The Five Castles Regatta is a team racing event incorporating a fun day for those who have never been exposed to a water based event. Schools enter teams of 3, they can enter as many teams of 3 as they are able to get together. Given the expansion of our event over the few years we may at some point need to place a limit on the number of competitive teams. team having to race each other team at least once. This results in over 60 races being held on the day. Credit has to go to the race organisers for making this happen!
A taster fleet allowis less experienced sailors to take part in the event. This fleet is more about learning the basics of sailing and having lots of fun. Equally importantly, it allows children to race on their own. Galloway Activity Centre’s Laser Funboat fleet is used, providing safe and forgiving racing.
A separate trophy is awarded to the winning team within the taster fleet. The hope is that this year's taster sailors will be next season's racers!
The Five Castles Schools Regatta will be held on the 17th June 2016 as with last year the fun on the water will continue into the weekend with a fun packed stay at the fabulous Galloway Activity Centre.
All teams should check in at the Galloway Activity Centre no later than 09:00am. Race briefings will commence at 09:25am first race at 10:00am.
